After having some issues with my cell phone, I called my operator off my landline so I could discuss the problems I was currently experiencing.
I explained to the representative that although my phone would turn on, and I could receive calls, the display screen was always blank. Unfortunately, although she sympathized with my problem, she explained there was nothing she could do for me over the phone and recommended that I take it to my operator’s local store for more help.
I was more than happy to oblige, after all, the phone was only 8 months old and therefore still well within its warranty. I was expecting no issues when talking over the problems with the store worker, however, his diagnosis was that I had dropped, or somehow allowed the phone to get unnecessarily wet. Obviously I disagreed, yet he still insisted that this was the case, even offering to jog my memory by asking if I had dropped it down the toilet or into a swimming pool.
After becoming more than a little agitated by the presumptions of the worker I left the store, and vowed to not use the company in the future.
To my knowledge I had done nothing to alter the functioning of the phone, however was left high and dry by the company. I received no help or compensation.

That sounds pretty lousy of them. I've heard some pretty bad stories about verizon, but I've never had to deal with them because I use "Sprint," or whatever they're called these days.
Which service were you using?
I understand exactly what you went through. These cell phone companies get on my last nerves because they are always trying to use the phone getting wet or the phone being dropped as the problem. You should have asked to speak to a manager and told them that you were dissatisfied about the service you had received from his employee. Furthermore, I would have told the manager that I specifically told the person that was assisting me, insisted that I dropped my phone or had gotten it wet after I had told that person more than once that I didn’t.
I recently had a problem with something similar. My phone was starting to lose its buttons within a year of purchasing it. Apparently this was a common problem with the phone. However I had the opposite problem in that I had dropped it in a toilet (because I'm the clumsiest person alive). Because my phone had water damage, even though it was still working fine and the problems it was experiencing were due to manufacturing problems (the lady on the phone even said so) I couldn't return it. Oh well,I guess that teaches me to not put my cell phone in my back pocket.
